Earlier this week, the city of Minneapolis awarded seven “zombies” a settlement of $165,000 after the group was arrested in July of 2006 for protesting “mindless” consumerism. The protesters, covered in make-up and fake blood, were carrying speakers and sound equipment to amplify spooky music from an iPod when police decided to intervene. The arresting officers considered their audio equipment simulated weapons of mass destruction and detained the zombies without charge for two days, a violation of the group’s constitutional rights
