Spring is here, which is usually the time when all of the homeowners get the urge to spruce up their properties and tackle the home improvement projects they’ve been putting off over winter. Sometimes the jobs have mounted up so much that it’s difficult to know where to start. Read on for 5 home improvement ideas to get you started…
- Add Some Colour
Brightening up your home doesn’t have to be a big or expensive task. It could be something a simple as investing in some artwork or a new rug. If you fancy a bit more of a challenge, a fresh coat of paint will go a long way to making your home feel more colourful, especially if you incorporate some statement feature walls.
- Build a Fire Pit
Hopefully, we’ll all be spending some more time outdoors in the coming weeks and months, so it might be nice to build a fire pit in the garden so you can dine al fresco or just extend your evenings outside. You could build your own as a DIY project or purchase one that’s ready to use without any work!
- Update Your Kitchen
The kitchen is arguably the hub of the house and is often at the brunt of a lot of wear and tear. With that said, you might want to update your kitchen as part of your home improvement project (budget dependent, of course). Have a chat with a bespoke kitchen design company if you fancy a full revamp, or you could just change the cupboard doors or give the walls a fresh coat of paint.

- Spruce Up Your Garden Deck
If you’re hoping to host a few garden parties over the next few months, give your decking some TLC. Sweep away any debris, use a pressure washer to remove any mould and dirt and repair any damage that may have occurred during winter. You might also want to revive the wood by painting or staining your decking to bring it back to life.
- Have a Clear Out
Sometimes all it takes to freshen up your home for spring is to have a clear out. Either donate or throw away any of your old clothes and other belongings that you don’t wear/use anymore and be sure to be ruthless. You’ll be surprised at how much bigger and cleaner your home fills just by getting rid of some of the clutter.
