With many companies returning to the office after months of working from home, now is a great time to consider how you can improve your efficiency at work. Not only will this help with your productivity, it will also likely save your employer some money, which they are sure to appreciate. Here’s some advice to get you started.

Manage Your Time More Effectively…

Start by considering how well you have managed your time in the past. Would you benefit from preparing a priority list at the beginning of each day so that you know what to tackle first? If you tend to feel overwhelmed by big, bulky tasks, you think about splitting them up into more manageable chunks so that you don’t end up shying away from them and procrastinating.

Often, your efficiency as an employee is down to your mindset, so try and change the way you view certain challenges. Take regular breaks away from your screen so that you don’t suffer with eyestrain, as that will only hinder your performance. During those short breaks, catch up with your colleagues so that they don’t disturb you whilst you’re working.

Adjust Your Workspace…

Are your desk and chair a suitable height for your body or do you find yourself bending, slouching, or stretching in order to reach your keyboard and mouse? If it’s the latter, talk to your superior about investing in some more appropriate furniture so that you are comfortable throughout the day. If you’re not, you may end up struggling with aches and pains, and even serious conditions like repetitive strain injury, which will not help with your efficiency.

Be Mindful of How You Use Technology…

Make sure you switch off your computer properly at the end of each day so that it doesn’t use up unnecessary electricity overnight. Not only will this be better for the environment, it will also help your employer save money on utility bills. The same applies to the lighting and the office printer. In fact, when it comes to the printer, they may be lots of ways to improve your efficiency. For example, you can print on double sided paper and reduce your font size to save on ink.
